“The Weatherford” is a charming single-story home designed in a European style. Spanning 2,304 square feet, it includes four bedrooms and three bathrooms, offering plenty of space for families.

This home is rich in European design elements, including dormer windows, charming front porch columns, an attractive bay window, and a combination of materials such as stone and siding. My favorite feature is the stone exterior that anchors the overall design.

Floor Plan for the Main Level

The floor plan effectively organizes different areas. For example, the two children’s bedrooms are located in the right wing, while the master bedroom and study are in the opposite corner. The central space consists of a great room that seamlessly connects to the kitchen and formal dining area.

Optional Bonus Space

While there isn’t an upstairs floor, there is a bonus room situated above the garage, which could serve as a comfortable guest area.

Alternative Main Level Design with Basement Access

If you’re okay with sacrificing a bit of garage storage, there’s an option to modify the main level to include basement access, but this might increase foot traffic around the utility space.

Let’s Look at the Backyard View—That’s the Bay Window from the Master Bedroom

A double door from the great room leads to a cozy covered porch. Although the porch is not very large, you can easily place a table with an umbrella in the backyard for additional seating, and the bay window offers a charming view of the outdoor area.

Great Room Featuring a Coffered Ceiling and Kitchen View

As a fan of coffered ceilings, this feature immediately caught my attention. The French doors bring plenty of natural light, enhancing the space’s brightness.

Natural Colors Anchor the Great Room

The living room includes brown sofas, a leather ottoman, and a fireplace with a TV.

The earthy palette features brown sofas, a green rug, and decorative pots, adding warmth to the great room. Colorful pillows and decorative items introduce a fun, personal touch.

Before we leave the great room, let’s appreciate the French door. It brings in an abundance of natural light, enhancing the ambiance.

I admire the grid design of the French door. For added contrast, I would choose darker siding to enhance its appearance.

Ample Space on the Covered Porch for a Few Chairs

A stone stoop with wrought iron railing complements the covered porch.

Although most outdoor seating will need to be placed in the backyard, there is some room for two or three chairs on the covered porch. Here, the designer arranged two matching chairs on one side with a larger chair on the opposite side. You can access the main seating area via the elegant brick stoop with wrought-iron railings.

Kitchen Layout Featuring Two Islands

A curved peninsula separates the kitchen from the living area.
Donald A. Gardner

The outer island is technically a peninsula since it’s attached to a wall, yet it retains the functionality of an island, allowing people to gather around it. This layout is common in open-concept designs, effectively creating a distinct kitchen area.

Stylish Kitchen with Bright Cabinets and Modern Appliances

The kitchen features stainless steel appliances, white cabinets, granite countertops, and a central island.

The peninsula visually distinguishes the kitchen from the great room, while still allowing an open flow between the two spaces.

The Kitchen Includes a Dedicated Workspace

A handy workspace in the kitchen is a fantastic feature for those moments when you want to jot down a recipe or check emails while cooking.

Plenty of Natural Light and a View of the Backyard

Large white-framed windows bring ample natural light to the kitchen.

This perspective highlights the large kitchen windows, which offer a view of the backyard. The pendant light enhances the room by tying in the kitchen’s color scheme.

Discover the Breakfast Nook

Although it’s not prominently featured in the earlier image, there’s a charming breakfast nook tucked between the kitchen area and the windows. It includes a white dining table accompanied by dark leather chairs, while the table runner and pendant light create a cohesive look.

Stylish Formal Dining Room with Elegant Features

Some may find the mix of wood tones here less appealing, so a matching dining set could improve the overall aesthetic.

Bright Colors Continue in the Adjacent Space

The bold red bed isn’t the only vibrant decoration; the patterned chaise lounge adds to the room’s fun spirit.

Soft Pink Bedroom with a Cozy Daybed

This kid’s room features soft pink walls with tree decals, which give it a playful feel. The white furniture, paired with various patterns and colors in the rug, blanket, and basket, makes for an engaging display.

Unlike the hardwood floors in other areas, the laundry room has neutral tiles that are both practical and stylish. The patterned pillows on the benches create a warm and inviting atmosphere.
